On September 26th, the School of New Media and Communication hosted a unique academic exchange event, the “Pomegranate Courtyard” Academic Salon, amidst the pomegranate trees in the yard on the ground floor of the School building. The event was initiated by the teams of Associate Professor Lu Jiahui and Associate Professor Xiao Yi, aiming to promote academic exchanges among students and facilitate interdisciplinary and academic discussions.
Second-year postgraduate students from the teams of Lu and Xiao presented their preliminary research findings in various fields, including the social impact of Artificial Intelligence, algorithmic ethics, and the influence of social media on the behavior of young users. The professional comments from the supervisors and the heated discussion provided a valuable opportunity for students.
This event represents an innovative utilization of the School’s resources, not only enriching students’ academic horizons but also promoting their research and presentation skills. As stated by Dean Lu Xiaohua, the distinctive feature of the School of New Media and Communication lies in its ability to facilitate interdisciplinary and academic discussions anytime and anywhere. The “Pomegranate Courtyard” Academic Salon exemplifies a vivid practice of interdisciplinary integration within the School of New Media and Communication.
